Bloomberg is weak on education....Need we say more? Bloomberg is weak on education. His comments below regarding class sizes speak volumes on what his priorities really are.
“If I had the ability, which nobody does really, to just design the system and say, ex cathedra, this is what we’re going to do, you would cut the number of teachers in half, but you would double the compensation of them, and you would weed out all the bad ones and just have good teachers. And double the class size with a better teacher is a good deal for the students,”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UAjOSLlRYc&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DrnmMX3dik&feature=relatedAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-445182336292537663.post-51100560218075274472011-10-29T23:11:24.522-04:002011-10-29T23:11:24.522-04:00http://www2.dailyprogress.com/news/2011/oct/27/alb...http://www2.dailyprogress.com/news/2011/oct/27/albemarle-lauds-shrinking-class-sizes-wants-more-s-ar-1416199/

Any connection?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-445182336292537663.post-91095724172535859642011-10-29T10:18:49.096-04:002011-10-29T10:18:49.096-04:00Class size is important, but for a h.s. teacher, o...Class size is important, but for a h.s. teacher, often the total number of students is an even bigger deal. Contacting parents, conferencing with students, grading papers, etc., for 150+ students is not sustainable.

Forget talking about my class sizes if it's just going to divert the attention from how many students I have in all of my classes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-445182336292537663.post-26120297718355764302011-10-28T18:20:21.724-04:002011-10-28T18:20:21.724-04:00My district uses everyone paid on a teacher paysca...My district uses everyone paid on a teacher payscale to calculate class size/student-teacher ratio. Librarians, literacy specialists, etc. There are quite a few "teachers" with zero students that do quite a number on our class size. So I've got twenty-eight fourth graders in a school with an average class size of eighteen!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
